LJ users' strike?

Hitsugaya - Fighting Will
Second post for today (ignore me, I'm not really here sitting at my computer, no really!), but I thought this was definitely worth posting:

Ganked from [info]tanrien, although I see that there are more posts coming from other people as well now...?

For one day, Friday, March 21, make no posts. Make no comments. Let there be NO new content added to LJ. SUP obviously does not realize that Basic users have given something of value to them, that it is content that drives the site. So, for one 24-hour period, from midnight GMT to midnight GMT, let's see how many people we can get to pledge to contribute NO CONTENT. This will create a permanent downward spike in the daily-posts statistics, a permanent reminder of the power of the userbase. Full information at The Fox's Den. (Also have a look at other related entries in her journal.) SPREAD THE WORD.

Of course the best thing to do would be not even to load any livejournal page, to ignore lj for the whole day. Because viewing ads also is a form of activity, especially the one bringing money, eh?

I hope that [info]schattenstern doesn't mind if I link to her excellent summary of last and this years' lj wanks? I'll delete it otherwise.

I'm posting this because, yes, I'm pissed off with lj. I was pissed off last year as well, but both for the Strikethrough and Boldthrough I still hoped that I would never be concerned personally, it was more a general anger for the way 6A treated the users. Because, hey, it's their company after all, they bought LJ, they can do ads as much as they want, they can ban users if they don't like having their stuff on their site yadda yadda yadda.
But. They can't hide things and hope that no one will ever notice, they can't not answer to uncomfortable questions, they can't treat their customers like complete retards.
And SUP seems to be doing possibly even worse. If you don't know what I mean, just follow the links or read the latest [info]news posts, or ask me if you still don't know what I mean.
And, okay, I will admit, I'm also majorly pissed off because they disabled the option for new basic accounts, I fucking hate plus accounts, pardon my french there. If someone has no problems to see ads on their journal, that's fine for them, I'm sure lots of people don't mind, so why should I? Unfortunately, it's not their business alone. That's why ads on other peoples' journals? Okay, I don't mind, I don't need to see them anyway. Spying on other peoples' journals? You'll wonder why I don't like that at all...

Sure, no problem. I'm happy to help and glad that the thing gets read after a rather frustrating moment of "ack I closed my browser no now I'll have to rewrite the last two paragraphs gaaah". ^__^
When will they ever learn? (Though by now that should probably be "Will they ever learn?". Meh.)

Thanks.^_^ In fact, I should have asked you directly, but I was sort of stressed yesterday evening and... yeah, I guess I forgot about that.^^;
Ouch, hate that too. Though I like LJ for that special autosave feature, it happened to me quite a lot of times too, but at least I don't have to rewrite the complete entry when I try again.

Honestly? I don't think they care for now, and I'm not that naive to think that they will ever care again, except for their precious ad-viewers of course. *sigh* But I seriously hope that at least they may get aware that treating their customers (because yes, I do consider myself as a customer and not just some random user who happened to choose this site over MySpace, you name it) like shit won't do them any good.

Nah, no need to ask. I just saw your comment over at Tanrien's post and you seemed unsure whether it was okay to link or not so I dropped by to make sure you know that it is. ^^
Autosave features have saved me countless times as well. *hugs them* Oh, what would Word be without you?

Agreed. *sighs* We're customers, whether we pay them directly or indirectly (through content) and if they would at least become aware of the fact that treating their customers the way they do might not be the smartest idea they ever had... okay, they might not change even then, but is a little awareness really that much to ask? *sighs some more*

In that case, thanks for the confirmation.^__^
Word does that too? I don't use Word, I either use OpenOffice or the Good Ol' Wordpad.:)

I guess you've already seen the translation of the interview with that SUP guy? That made me lose every single tiny little rest of faith I had that they would still one day (soon?) recognize that they can't treat users as if they were just some barely tolerated parasites on their great and shiny new bought site. I can't even express just how disgusted I feel right now.

...and sorry for the ranting, I shall rather go outside and kick a few defenseless tree trunks or poles instead of spamming other people when I'm angry...;>_>

I've used Word since forever and never bothered to stop (lazy me) but I'm getting more and more used to Wordpad when I'm using my laptop which doesn't have Word. It's nice and simple. <3)

Just finnished reading it. It's just-- I'm-- speechles. Completely and utterly speechless. (I barely managed to edit a link into my summary post. ^^) They. Just. Uhm.
I'll try behing coherent about this... later. Gaaaah!

NOOO! Not the treetrunks! Go kick... uhm... Ah! Kick that plastic bag over there, your foot will thank you. ;)

I don't even remember what writing tool I used in my early days and went literaly mad because of all the shiny features that rarely worked like I wanted to - or even changed without my doing while I was writing. That's why I love Wordpad that much, I never had any problems with that, and I don't need lots of features when I'm writing fics anyway.♥

I had the same reaction. There are no words to describe that. There simply aren't!

I'd love to go and do some kicking in Moscow, but then I'd probably have to take Aeroflot and I hate that airline.;>_>

Okay - no eljay for me on Friday. I should be able to do at least that.

Me too, because that's the day I'll be busy with cleaning up my room, packing some stuff and wait for my mother to pick me up and driving to the Normandy. Not that I wouldn't have the time to read my fl instead but... yeah. I'll manage that.

*headdesk*

Sag mal, ich erinnere mich, dass du mal von einem Account auf JournalFen gesprochen hast, aber hast du auch etwas auf Insanejournal? Falls ja, was sagst du persönlich bisher dazu? Die meisten Auswanderer scheinen ja inzwischen dahin zu tendieren, aber mir fehlen noch Empfehlungen von Leuten die ich kenne.^^;

*Sorako erinnert sich daran, dass Antworten auf Kommentare in fremden Journals leider NICHT in der Message Inbox erscheinen, sondern in den Mails* ^^;

Was für Honks...
